How it all started…

Hi, I’m Laurie! A self-confessed ‘fast travel’ addict making country counting work around my 9-5 office-based job. Originally from the UK, I’ve lived in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. I always enjoyed travelling, but admittedly prioritised study and work over travel for much of my twenties. In 2022, after a whirlwind two week trip overlanding from Tanzania to Angola, combined with moving to Asia having never stepped foot on this side of the planet before, I suddenly realised I had wasted a lot of time not getting out there and seeing the world.

I started travelling extensively during weekends and public holidays, and planning itineraries that would take me to multiple countries during 1-2 week vacations. And the rest is history! I didn’t start out trying to visit every country, but when I hit 80 countries, I decided it’s worth a shot! I typically prefer visiting more remote or unusual locations, and this blog was born from wanting to document my experiences in harder-to-reach places, share itineraries for getting the most out of short visits, and record the highlights I see along the way. I hope to inspire fellow full time, non-remote warriors that you can travel extensively without quitting your job, you just need to get creative in your planning!
